Coachella 2019 fire: What we know

An early morning fire broke out during the festival’s first weekend.

Early Saturday morning, a fire broke out at California’s Coachella Festival, leaving one shower trailer destroyed and another damaged, according to authorities.

The Riverside County Fire Department responded to the fire at 2 a.m. Pacific Standard Time and contained the flames. Officials reported that no festival attendees or first responders were injured.

Childish Gambino, Donald Glover’s musical alter ego, opened the festival Friday along with Janelle Monae, The 1975, Blackpink, and others.

What we know

  • The Riverside County Fire Department responded to a call of a fire at one of the mobile shower units near the center of the Coachella campground shortly after 2 a.m.

  • Festival attendees took to social media to share images of the blaze.

  • The fire was contained by 2:28 a.m. and authorities reported no one was injured. One shower trailer was destroyed and another was left damaged.
