Manafort strikes a deal
Former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort officially pleaded guilty to two new charges — and agreed to cooperate fully with Robert Mueller’s investigation. [Vox / Andrew Prokop]

The Oromo rejoice and resist in Ethiopia
Life in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, has come to a standstill as police violently clash with the Ethiopian ethnic group known as the Omoro. Protests began when Oromo youth joined together in the streets waving their resistance flag and painting its colors across the city. [Africa News / Abdur Rahman and Alfa Shaban]
Addis Ababa is preparing for the return of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), which was previously considered a terrorist organization by the Ethiopian government. OLF is returning because Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed removed the group from the government’s list. [AFP]
The Oromo people are the largest ethnic group in Ethiopia. But residents of Addis Ababa are not pleased with the group’s presence. As a result, clashes have turned violent. [DW]
Though the OLF was considered a terrorist organization, the group is resisting what it believes are “decades of discriminatory practices of non-Oromo elites based in Addis Ababa.” [Xinhua]
